Placement Process

Placement Process MBA

Step 1 – Career Guidance. Most MBA students plan to get a job in a corporate though a few bold ones embrace entrepreneurship. We prepare the students for a corporate job by focusing on their generic and technical competencies using the T-shaped professional model. There are 15 interventions to operationalize this model <give link here to T-shaped professional model>. Those who plan to grow along the entrepreneurial route, select their own unique growth path.

The school has an excellent career guidance and career development system which is operated through the SOP (Student Ownership Program) mentors. In the first year of MBA, the SOP mentors focus on developing the generic competencies using a structured log. Towards the end of the first semester and early in the second semester, the students are briefed on the nuances of placement, selecting appropriate specialization, interventions mentioned related to the vertical component of the T-shaped professional and the need to match ambition vis-à-vis competencies and corporate policies on recruitment. So, every one need to strategize their career plan differently.

In the second year of the study, technical mentors take over as SOPs. They are subject matter experts, e.g., in finance, operations, HR etc. They mentor the students to equip themselves with technical competencies required for job winning.

Step 2 – Career Development. The key highlights are:

Enhancing knowledge of self through:

  • Purposing workshop using hexagonal model is done to enhance one’s understanding of what one wants to do in life.
  • Johari Window, reflective diary using Kolb’s Experiential Cycle and psychometrics are other unique tools that we employ to help a student identify their strengths.

Developing self through:

  • Creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to bridge the gap between the competencies required to do what one desires and the competencies that one has.
  • Student Ownership Program. This is a structured mentoring program that helps a student in operationalizing the IDP.
  • Communication development through Evening and Midnight presentations.
  • Business awareness development through mandatory Economic Times reading.
  • Refining oneself through sessions in grooming, fine dining, and Breakfast with CEO interventions.
  • Sector awareness intervention through talks on various sectors and the exciting opportunities in the sectors.
  • Finishing training through training in aptitude test, GD, CV building and one on one interview training, which are unique interventions of DCSMAT.
  • Key skill development through Excel Expert Certification for all students and Power BI certification training for those who feel capable of completing the certification.
  • Self-development as a life-long learner through job winning online courses supported by the faculty mentors.

Step 3 – Promotion. The head of placement along with the placement team which is driven by the students prepare a placement brochure and approach several companies to promote placement taking due care to ensure that companies are reputed ones. We have several recruiters who recruit from us regularly.

Step 4  – Recruitment Drive.  The companies announce their recruitment drive, students apply for a job, get short listed and the process of recruitment takes place at Vagamon. At times the interviews are scheduled in Kochi or other places. In such cases, the school provides transport so that the student can have a hassle-free travel for the interview.
